To Veil or Not to Veil
To veil or not to veil?
That’s a dang good question. Probably won’t give Shakespeare a run for his money, but it is a question almost every bride asks themselves while preparing for the big day. And the answer is…. Maybe?
I know! Not really much of an answer, but there are so many things to consider! First of all, do you want to wear a veil? If the answer is no, then stop stressing and just don’t wear one. A lot of brides feel pressure from family and friends to wear a veil, but if you really don’t want to wear a veil- then don’t do it. You will have plenty of time in your life to have regrets about your fashion choices. Don’t have regrets about your bridal look BEFORE the big day even gets here. There are tons of great headpieces if you want something in your hair but don’t love the look of a veil.
Many brides don’t want to wear a veil because they think it has to go over the face. Fun fact (ok, less of a fact and more of an observation from working with brides)- most brides who wear veils DO NOT wear them over their face. The part of the veil that goes over the face is called a blusher. You can get a veil with a blusher attached or keep it on a separate comb.
Another common worry is that a veil may not fit the vibe of a wedding. But fear not! There are so many amazing options for veils that there really is something for everyone! Many people think that a boho wedding needs a flower crown instead of a veil, but a veil that is super light and flowy gives you the same boho vibe without the traditional look. Plus, you can always put a veil WITH your flower crown. Or we have an amazing boho veil in the store with macrame fringe!
Maybe you have a more retro esthetic, then you could consider a bird cage veil. This veil can venture into headpiece territory rather than being what is traditionally thought of as a veil, but it is still a gorgeous option! This veil is also popular with small weddings and courthouse weddings.

So once you have decided whether you will wear a veil and the vibe you are going for, you will need to decide length. Sorry to say, but there are tons of different lengths! Don't freak out- around here we mostly only see two lengths. The first is called fingertip length (it usually hits right under the booty-about the same place that your fingertips would be if your arms were by your side). If you are taller or you wear it higher on your head, it will hit you higher up. Probably 75% of the veils that we sell are in this length- this stat is completely made up but feels about right.

The other length we see frequently is called cathedral length. It is most often seen in big church weddings, but looks AMAZING in an outdoor setting as well. This veil comes in at 120" in length and is all about the drama!

If none of the standard veil lengths work for you, we can custom order our veils in any length you want! We can also add a blusher to a veil that doesn't have one. These custom changes really help make your day exactly as you envisioned. Still aren't sure if you are a veil person? Try them on! Veils don't take as long to come in once ordered as dresses, so many brides wait til their dress arrives and set up an appointment to try on their dress and try accessories.
Whatever you choose for your big day, you are going to be gorgeous! But if you don't have a veil, how can you get amazing pictures like this?
